Haagen-Dazs has recently came out with a new line up of ice creams called “Trio.” Trio refers to three layers of ice cream in each pint. For this flavor, it was chocolate ice cream, crispy belgian chocolate, and white chocolate mixed throughout the pint. Haagen-Daz is one of the few companies that seem to do white chocolate well, so I was pretty excited for this pint.
The milk chocolate base was well done, as with most Haagen-Dazs pints. The crispy Belgian chocolate was wonderful and maintained its crispiness. I am a big fan of having components in ice cream that provide a lot of texture. While the other two flavors were good, the white chocolate is what I enjoyed the most. The other chocolate flavors do overpower the white chocolate just a bit, but you get that creamy, flavorful white chocolate flavor.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable pint. While the Trio line up hasn’t proven to be “game changing” as the concept might have seemed, they are still worth a try. Rating: 8/10.
