My journey through each flavor of the new Haagen-Dazs Trio lineup is almost coming to an end. After finishing up this Vanilla Blackberry Chocolate Trio, the only Trio I have left is the Coffee Vanilla Chocolate. While the new Trios are a new concept to the ice cream game, it’s definitely not a game changer. I think Haagen-Dazs makes the best ice cream base of any store bought ice cream, but the redundancy of these Trios is starting to take a toll on me. At first it was exciting and new, but now it’s the same story, different flavors. Similar to “if you’ve had one, you’ve had them all” type feeling.
This Trio consists of vanilla and blackberry ice creams with a crispy belgian chocolate. Like all the other Trios, the belgian chocolate is flavorful and crispy. The blackberry ice cream is new for me, but I did enjoy it. It has a tart flavor, slight citrus taste, but sweeter due to the other flavors blending in with it. While I think the vanilla base from Haagen-Dazs is better than most, it just didn’t add much to the pint.
In the end, I did enjoy this new Trio flavor. Like the other Trio flavors, it’s well executed, but nothing that will blow you away. I felt the vanilla base kept this pint from being really good. I hope to see this blackberry flavor in other Haagen-Dazs pints in the future. I do plan on scooping the last of the Trio flavors hopefully very soon. This vanilla blackberry Trio gets a 7/10.
