Dairy Queen’s New “Guardians Awesome Mix” Blizzard Treat

As the new Guardians of the Galaxy 2 comes to theaters tonight, I figure what better time to go and purchase Dairy Queen’s new Guardians Blizzard. I’m sure most of you reading this review has seen the first Guardians of the Galaxy, I mean who hasn’t? It’s a great movie. It’s funny, lots of action, great visual effects, and anytime you get to see Chris Pratt, or I should say Peter Quill, save the universe, you know you’re in for a good time. When I found out Dairy Queen was making a new Blizzard with a Guardians theme, I got really excited. Here you have what should be a great movie coming out tonight, so of course that only means the Blizzard is going to be just as great, right? Well, unfortunately, I can’t give you that answer. I can only tell you how good the Guardians Blizzard tastes.

The Guardians Blizzard consists of brownies and cookies (“Brookies”) mixed with caramel, chocolate chunks, and vanilla soft serve.

The caramel and chocolate chunks weren’t too abundant in this Blizzard. I did get a few chocolate chunks here and there that were a nice surprise. The vanilla ice cream base eventually turned to a tasty caramel / chocolate / vanilla mix as all the flavors melted together. The “Brookies” were surprisingly quite delicious. My “small” serving Blizzard had plenty of the Brookies in it to keep me happy. They were soft and chewy. I had thought they might get a little hard, but I was pleasantly wrong.

Overall, I must say this Blizzard surprised me with how much I enjoyed it. If the caramel and chocolate chunks had been a little more plentiful, this would have been perfect. As is, this one would make a perfect treat as you go see the new Guardians of the Galaxy 2. If you for some reason you haven’t seen the first movie, you should. It’s great. Plus, I’m pretty sure it’s been proven that you’ll appreciate this Blizzard more if you’ve seen the first movie. Guardians of the Galaxy movie rating: 9/10. Guardians Blizzard rating: 8/10
